About us

Camden is building somewhere everyone can thrive, by making our borough the best place to live, work, study and visit. Because we’re not just home to UK’s fast-growing economy. We’re home to the most important conversations happening today. And we’re making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. Here’s where you can help decide better future for us all. As part of the Public Protection Service, the Food Safety team plays a key role in protecting citizens from harm from unsafe food and infectious diseases by working in partnership with stakeholders and the business community to drive regulatory compliance, engender business growth, and improve health and wellbeing outcomes for all.

The role

Operating within a fast paced, flexible and dynamic team, you will be responsible for setting up and delivering the Healthier Catering Commitment (HCC) pilot scheme across Camden food businesses including supporting them with food safety compliance in order to achieve the HCC Award. The pilot will run for 18 months and will contribute directly to Camden’s Commitments on the Healthy Weight Acceleration Plan

The role requires the post holder to work closely with public health and environmental health colleagues in order to set up, design, deliver and review an initial 18-month pilot which can then be rolled out across other areas of the borough to improve and increase the number of healthier food options available in Camden’s takeaways and other catering food businesses. You will set up the project and be responsible for working within businesses within the agreed project area for them to meet the HCC criteria of the scheme. This may also involve supporting businesses to meet food safety compliance. You will be required to carry out site visits and work closely with food businesses, providing advice to help ensure issues are resolved. The role also includes report writing, performance reporting and the provision of information to stakeholders.
