Licensing Officer

Sharper Consulting Services are seeking a dedicated and experienced Licensing Officer to join a busy local authority in London on a short-term contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with licensing laws, conducting enforcement actions, and managing a diverse caseload of licensing applications and investigations.

Contract Length: Approximately 3 months

Rate: £38 - £45 per hour (Umbrella)

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and process licensing applications, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations, including the Licensing Act 2003 and the Gambling Act 2005.
• Investigate complaints and breaches of licensing conditions, taking appropriate enforcement actions where necessary.
• Provide advice and guidance to businesses, license holders, and members of the public regarding licensing requirements.
• Prepare and present evidence for hearings, court cases, and appeals.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to assess compliance and identify any potential issues.
• Collaborate with other enforcement agencies and departments to deliver effective licensing services.

Essential Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Licensing Officer or in a similar enforcement role within a local authority.
• Comprehensive knowledge of licensing laws and enforcement processes.
• Ability to manage a busy caseload effectively, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Experience in preparing reports and presenting evidence at hearings or court proceedings.
• Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle (desirable).
