Private Sector Housing Officer

A client based in the West Midlands is seeking an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer to join their team on a rolling 6-month contract. This role is perfect for professionals who value hybrid working arrangements and a supportive team environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Investigate complaints and conduct inspections of privately rented properties to identify hazards under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS).
• Prepare and serve enforcement notices and schedules of work to ensure properties meet current standards.
• Take appropriate enforcement actions to facilitate necessary improvements.
• Process and prepare licenses for Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs), including inspections to ensure compliance with legislation.
• Assist with discretionary grant work as needed.
• Provide advice to the public regarding housing standards and legal requirements.

What We’re Looking For

• HHSRS Certification is essential.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally within private sector housing.
