Buckingham Futures are recruiting for HMO and Damp & Mould Inspection Officers on behalf of our client in Essex. These positions involve supporting proactive inspections of Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) and addressing damp and mould complaints. The roles are essential in maintaining housing standards and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of residents within the local area. Successful candidates will join an established team, sharing knowledge and experience, and contribute to the development of communication strategies around damp and mould issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct proactive inspections of HMOs to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Respond to and investigate damp and mould complaints from tenants and residents.
- Provide expert advice on housing conditions, offering guidance to landlords and tenants.
- Develop and implement communication strategies to raise awareness about damp and mould prevention.
- Collaborate with internal teams to share knowledge and best practices.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, complaints, and actions taken.
- Liaise with local authorities and external stakeholders to support housing compliance.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience in housing inspections, property maintenance, or environmental health.
- Strong knowledge of HMO regulations, damp and mould issues, and housing standards.
- Experience with the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS).
- Experience managing a high volume of inspections and complaints.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with residents, landlords, and other stakeholders.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently.
- You not be an Environmental Health Officer, but must have significant experience in housing or related inspection work.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and housing compliance frameworks.
- Experience developing communication strategies for housing-related issues.
- Familiarity with local authority processes and systems.
