A Food Safety Officer vacancy has arisen within our Food, Health & Safety Team into which we wish to recruit. This reflects the Council’s ongoing commitment towards protecting the health and well-being of our local community and people visiting Lincoln.
This is an excellent career opportunity in the team dealing with all aspects of Food Safety, Communicable Disease Control and Public Health matters.
As a minimum, you will hold the EHRB Higher Certificate in Food Premises Inspection or equivalent.
As a key member of the team, you must be able to set priorities and monitor performance and be capable of adapting quickly to changing situations. You will be expected to contribute fully to the work of the team and the organisation. In return you can expect a real commitment to ensuring that your career development and training needs are met.
Key responsibilities:
- Work under the general direction of the Environmental Health & Corporate Safety Manager to ensure that the Council discharges its duties in carrying out food safety inspections and official controls, investigating cases and outbreaks of infectious diseases and promotion of public health initiatives.
- To take appropriate enforcement action in order to achieve the protection of public health.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Ability in interpreting, implementing and applying guidelines and legislation.
- Experience of developing and maintaining constructive working relationships across teams.
- Experience of making safe and sound decisions and form judgements based on evidence available, experience, knowledge and current legislation.
- Ability to use and be responsible for Council equipment and resources. Ability to work effectively on own and as part of a wider team.
- Higher Certificate in Food Premises Inspection (EHRB or SFSORB).
