We are looking for a talented individual to lead the Environmental Quality Team. You must have excellent technical knowledge and demonstrable enforcement experience in environmental health.
As the lead officer for the team you will be expected to supervise day to day workloads to meet deadlines and ensure customer care. You will be highly motivated, working on your own using your initiative, and as part of a wider team. You will be committed to partnership working and the promotion of a One Exeter ethos to encourage a supportive working environment.
A degree or diploma in environmental health or equivalent qualification is required for this post. We would welcome applications from candidates holding the Postgraduate Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control or the IOA Certificate of Competence in Environmental Noise Measurement.
About the role:
You will lead a busy multi-disciplinary team that deals with a variety of environmental and pollution issues throughout the city.
You will be expected to:
- Assess the potential environmental impacts of planning and premises licence applications.
- Investigate complaints of statutory nuisance arising on commercial premises such as noise, odour, and bonfires taking enforcement action where necessary.
- Process applications for and issue environmental permits and undertake inspections of permitted processes.
- Lead our air quality monitoring programme and other environmental monitoring and prepare the required statutory reports.
- Oversee the council's pest control service.
- Respond to requests for environmental information
The role does involve occasional out of hours working and visits to sites that may involve walking on rough terrain or climbing ladders.
