EHO (Food & Safety)

Sharper Consulting Services is working with our local authority client in the Lowlands of Scotland assisting in their search for a dedicated and experienced Environmental Health Officer (Food & Safety) to join their team on an initial 6 month contract.

You will be required to conduct food safety and food standards inspections across the district, respond to reactive complaints and investigations of food premises (all risk ratings) and assist with enquiries.

Knowledge and Experience:

• Demonstrate substantial experience in conducting food inspections on behalf of a local authority.
• Maintain a fully up-to-date competency matrix and engage in continuous professional development (CPD) to stay abreast of the latest developments in food safety regulations and practices.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Hold a BSc/MSc in Environmental Health or a Higher Certificate in Food Control.
• EHRB / REHIS registration (or equivalent) Proven experience in the field of environmental health, specifically in food safety inspections.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess and manage risks effectively.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with businesses, colleagues, and external agencies.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting. Thorough understanding of relevant legislation and regulations governing food safety.
