Buckingham Futures have an excellent opportunity in South Wales for an Environmental Health Officer to work with the Health and Safety team and work as part of a team to ensure service requests are dealt with according to the team’s service standards to start asap on an interim basis. The majority of the work will be investigating and enforcing on infectious disease special/ procedures (e.g. tattooing, piercing etc).
The preference is for a full time worker to join on a six month preliminary contract however the client will accept less hours for the right candidate if they are only available part time. Furthermore, the role is agile so will accommodate on site and work from home working arrangements.
Main duties and responsibilities
• General health and safety complaint investigation; including food poisoning notifications, food contamination cases, infectious disease questionnaires.
• Enforcement liaison; carrying out visits of non-compliant premises and investigating infectious disease
• Dealing with enquiries such as answering general health and safety queries, responding to Freedom of Information requests
• To investigate and provide an appropriate response to service requests regarding those matters that fall to the team for enforcement
Qualifications/Requirements
• Degree in Environmental Health (or equivalent)
• The Post Holder must also possess a certificate of registration issued by the Environmental health Officers Registration Board or equivalent.
• Proven post degree experience in undertaking reactive interventions for Health and Safety
•Detailed knowledge of environmental health related legislation relevant to the area of work of the team and an understanding of legal processes associated with enforcement functions and service
of statutory notices.
