Housing Renewal Officer

Good morning,

This role is designated as: Hybrid: Workers spend the majority of their time on site or in client visits. They will work in a specified Council office between site visits and may also work from home on an occasional or more frequent basis.

Contract length: Initially 3 months 

Hours: 24 hrs per week ( 3 DAYS A WEEK)

Rate: DOE

Main Duties:

HHSRS  inspections.

HMO licensing inspections.

Good knowledge of relevant legislation and enforcement action. 

Experience of caravan site licensing would be an advantage.

Qualifications:

Essential

· Degree and / or professional qualification in relevant subject (housing / environmental health / building construction) or substantial relevant experience

Desirable

· Corporate membership of relevant professional body

(CIH, RICS, CIEH)

Experiance:

Essential

· Housing law enforcement, including HMOs and HMO licensing and empty properties

· Provision of housing advice, including dealing with overcrowding, harassment and illegal evictions

· Identification of housing defects and appropriate remedial action under HHSRS

· Preparation of schedules of work and supervising building work on site 

· Though knowledge of current private sector housing law, including practical application of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS), PACE and HMO legislation/licensing.

· Working knowledge of appropriate computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Office and specialist Environmental Health databases

· Awareness of wider private sector housing issues

Desirable:

Court experience

Knowledge of caravan site legislation and control
