This leadership position requires overseeing the Commercial Safety Team. The team is responsible for a varied workload including food safety, health and safety, licensing, noise, public safety and planning consultations concerning commercial premises.
To be considered for this role it is imperative that you are a qualified EHO/EHP and meet the competencies for authorised Food Officers in accordance with the Food Law Code of Practice.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing delivery of the service, including high profile and complex cases, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and council policies, whilst promoting positive values and behaviours.
As a representative of the council, you will collaborate with businesses and other organisations to promote a safe environment for residents, employees, and visitors.
The successful candidate will have:
- Have an excellent knowledge of the range of legislation enforced by the Public Protection team.
- Full current driving licence.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a demanding and pressurised environment independently and as a team.
- High standard of written and verbal presentation and communication skills.
- Competent in the use of standard computer systems
One or more of the following qualifications:
- Higher Certificate in Food Control awarded by the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) or CIEH.
- Higher Certificate in Official Control awarded by the Scottish Food Safety Officers Registration Board (SFSORB).
- A Certificate of Registration awarded by the EHRB to practice as an Environmental Health Practitioner.
- A Diploma in Environmental Health awarded by the EHRB.
- Advanced Professional Certificate in Food Hygiene and Standards Control (APC) awarded by CIEH.
- Degree in Environmental Health.
- Master’s degree in environmental health.
- Environmental Health Practitioner (Integrated Degree) Apprenticeship.
- Supervisory or management qualification or experience of supervising or managing staff.
