SANDWELL MBC
Senior Environmental Health Officer
Salary: £40,221 - £45,441 per annum
Contract: Permanent – Full Time
Location: Sandwell Council House, Freeth Street, Oldbury, B69 3DE
We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Senior Environmental Health Officer role within the Citizen and Consumer Protection Business and Consumer Team which includes Environmental Health, Trading Standards and General Licensing. It's an exciting time to join Sandwell Council’s Environmental Health Team with a re-design that is part of a forward-thinking review of our services to ensure that we are a team fit for the future.
About you
We are looking for a chartered or EHRB registered Environmental Health Officer with significant experience in Food and Health & Safety to join us as Senior Environmental Health Officer. Working alongside our other Senior EHOs you will help shape the direction of our team, use your specialist knowledge and experience to lead on projects and to provide support to officers and assist the Team Managers with leading on the different disciplines.
Applications from professionals with equivalent qualifications to meet the competency requirements and experience are also welcomed.
You will need to have a minimum of 3 years' experience within Food Safety and Health and Safety, be open to new challenges, have excellent communication skills, be professional and an exemplar for Sandwell MBC and the Environmental Health profession.
The team
The team is a busy, friendly, and professional team covering Food Safety, Health and Safety, Infectious Diseases, Industrial and Commercial Nuisance and Waste and Animal Welfare. Whilst most officers work within either Food Safety and Health and Safety, or within Commercial Nuisance, there is the opportunity to develop your skills and experience across disciplines and this will be supported and encouraged.
We are also keen to provide our officers with opportunities for further development and we support officers with further training and ensuring they can meet Continuous Professional Development.
The council operates hybrid working. This involves working from an agreed workplace location in the borough for at least two days a week.
Closing date: 8 September 2024.
