An exciting job opportunity has arisen to join Birmingham City Council's expanding Environmental Health team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for a team of Environmental Health Officers undertaking investigations, conducting inspections, and enforcing legislation across a range of environmental health areas including Food Safety, Health and Safety, Statutory Nuisance and Public Health. In addition, the post holder will take the lead for Governance across the whole Environmental Health team with specific responsibilities for areas such as quality procedures, complaints, ombudsman and system reviews.
As Operations Manager (Governance), you will have a degree/diploma in Environmental Health and be EHORB registered or a CIEH Registered Environmental Health Practitioner. You will also have the following skills and experience:
- Knowledge and practical experience in enforcement across the breadth of Environmental Health legislation.
- A skilled manager able to motivate and develop your team to deliver their objectives.
- An ability to prioritise and manage your own workload to meet deadlines in a busy environment with competing demands.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) including experience of writing and presenting reports to Council committees.
- Strong IT skills including experience of Environmental Health software for reporting.
- Experience of performance monitoring to help ensure teams are operating efficiently to maximise outcomes.
- Ability to work flexibly including some work outside normal officer hours.
- The requirement to drive is essential. You will be expected to travel within Birmingham for which you will be remunerated for the use of your car.
