Are you an experienced Housing Standards Officer looking to step up to your next challenge? We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Housing Standards Officer to lead the Boston Housing Standards Team.

The Housing Standards Team is responsible for the regulation of the private rented sector, including houses in multiple occupation. The primary functions of the team include housing inspections, advice and where appropriate enforcement, to ensure standards are met and maintained. As a Senior Housing Standards Officer you will have previous experience of working within an enforcement focused environment, preferably within housing, including:

  • Risk based inspections to identify deficiencies relating to categorised hazards,
  • Processing of licenses, such as HMOs,
  • Service of statutory notices and preparation of evidence bundles for court hearings,
  • Providing team members with support and guidance in relation to both the technical aspects of housing work and the processes followed.

As part of your role you will provide day to day line management to the Boston based team to help ensure that housing conditions across the districts meet nationally adopted standards. In addition to this you will be working collaboratively with the Senior Officers from our 2 Partner Councils. With support from the Team Leader and Service Manager you will be working as a key person within the team to help deliver this service. You will need to be prepared to deal with a wide range of premises and people across our diverse districts, in collaboration with some our partner agencies.

Boston Borough Council is in an exciting period of change, working within a Partnership arrangement with East Lindsey and South Holland District Council. All 3 Councils within the Partnership are forward thinking authorities in terms of flexible/agile working arrangements; the successful candidate would be able to make use of these offices for some of the working week and work outside of the office, when not carrying out officer support/site visits.

If you believe you have the skills, knowledge and experience to effectively deliver this role, then we are excited to hear from you!
