Environmental Health Officer
(P01419)
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Environmental Health Officer to join our team.
Managing a diverse caseload, you'll immerse yourself in a supportive, collaborative atmosphere, encountering various industrial, commercial, and domestic settings.
You will play a pivotal part in enforcing a broad spectrum of legislation while providing expert advice in line with both council policy and governmental directives.
Your responsibilities will span a wide array of environmental protection areas, including but not limited to statutory nuisance and public health investigations, responding to licensing applications under the Licensing Act 2003, leadership in contaminated land management, and oversight of private water supplies. Additionally, you may be asked to contribute to planning application assessments and uphold our obligations in environmental permitting and air quality management.
Ideal candidates will exhibit a deep-seated passion for Environmental Health, coupled with a commitment to delivering customer-focused services. A positive mindset, coupled with a readiness to embrace innovative approaches, celebrate achievements, and persevere in ensuring compliance, is paramount. Your organisational prowess will prove invaluable in managing a diverse caseload, for which you will assume personal accountability.
Flexibility is key in this role, as occasional work outside regular office hours may be necessary to provide the best service to the residents of our Borough.
We are encouraging applications from all experience levels but are particularly interested in hearing from people with extensive relevant experience. A relevant Environmental Health qualification is essential, with additional technical qualifications, particularly in contaminated land or acoustics and noise control being advantageous.
Join us in making a tangible difference to environmental health and well-being in Welwyn and Hatfield. Apply now and be part of our team shaping a sustainable future for our community!
Please contact Gareth Davies if you wish to have an informal conversation about the post on 07817 998457 or email g.davies1@welhat.gov.uk (Wednesday to Friday only).
Closing date for applications is 5th June 2024.
Remote assessments will be held on date to be confirmed and interviews will be held on 13th June 2024.
