Are you seeking a new opportunity? Do you want a new challenge, within an inclusive and fast paced work environment, where staff are recognised for their achievements and encouraged to develop their skills? If so, this role could be for you.

Who are we?

Eastleigh Borough Council is an ambitious and progressive Council. We are recognised for our innovation and achievements, and for delivering high quality services to our customers and the community.

The role

We are looking for an experienced Environmental Health Practitioner to join our Environmental Health (Commercial) Team.

As an Environmental Health practitioner, you will be completing inspections in the borough, providing support and advice on key legislation and working to ensure our statutory obligations are met, as well as support the commercial aspects of our service.

What we need from you

You will have experience and knowledge of the relevant legislation, codes of practice and guidance associated with health and safety, food safety and infectious disease control. Ideally you will also have experience of primary authority agreements, as the role provides an exciting opportunity to work with our primary authority partners across the country, providing expert advice and guidance. Excellent communication and negotiation skills are required.

You will have experience of dealing with a variety of customers, partners and other organisations, as well as the ability to manage competing priorities and remain calm under pressure.

Membership of a relevant professional body or working towards membership is desirable.

Due to the nature of the role, a full driving license is essential.

This position would suit a candidate looking for the next stage in their career, with an opportunity to engage in Primary Authority work.

As an employer of choice, we offer flexible benefits and working arrangements, along with a culture which is committed to learning, improving and growing. The Council operates a hybrid working policy, with a minimum of one day a week in the office at Eastleigh House.

We are committed to building on our existing strong working practices, and making sure our residents are at the heart of everything we do.

Benefits

  • 26-28 days’ annual leave (dependant on service)
  • Flexible working arrangements and ability to accrue up to 2 days additional flexi leave per month (subject to operational requirements)
  • Defined Benefit Pension Scheme
  • Places Leisure, Eastleigh – 30% off Full Membership
  • Confidential Employee Advice and Support Programme
  • Car and Season Ticket loans
  • Excellent working environment
  • Support for continuous professional development
  • Good work life balance

If you are excited by this opportunity and feel you have the skills, experience and attitude we are looking for we would love to hear from you.
