Senior Technical Officer Commercial
Grade 8, £38,912 – £42,107 pro-rata (including £689 local weighting)
Permanent, 37 hours per week based in Wallfields, Hertford with opportunity to work partly from home.
The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Technical officer to join our commercial team. As an experienced food officer, you will deliver our food hygiene inspection programme and assist with a variety of other health protection functions including the inspection of workplaces, the investigation of accidents, infectious disease control, private water supply sampling and licensing.
You will need to be enthusiastic, customer-focused, and technically knowledgeable, with good communication skills. You will have opportunities to lead on various projects and work areas and to help shape the improvement of our services.

About You
The successful candidate must be competent under the provision of the FLCOP to inspect high-risk food businesses for food safety and to use the full range of food safety enforcement powers open to the profession. You will also need to be competent to enforce the provisions of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and associated Regulations.
To apply you must possess a Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health or the Higher Certificate in Food Premises inspection and be EHRB /CIEH registered.
As part of your application, you will be required to provide additional information on:
- Where you have undertaken high-risk food hygiene inspections and actions taken to resolve non-compliances.
- Recent work under health & safety investigations and inspections and resolution options
