Making a difference at a local level, working within the Commercial and Licensing Team you will be focused on ensuring that we secure the relevant standards in relation to all commercial premises and taxi licensing in accordance with legislation and service policy. Whether that is the processing of applications, undertaking inspection of commercial premises for, health and safety and licensing and the investigation of complaints and compliance with licensing conditions, health and safety. To dealing with statutory nuisance from commercial premises, outdoor events and contributing to the improvement of the nighttime economy in the city, this varied remit will ensure there is never a dull moment.

You will join us with the ability to interpret and apply legislation, communicate well at all levels, prepare, and write reports and be able to present facts and negotiate in a balanced manner.  You will have experience of working with the public, carrying out investigations and inspections and a knowledge of current legislation.

Owing to the nature of this position you will need to be able to travel in and around Cambridge City.

Role:

Environmental Health Officer, Senior Technical Officer or Technical Officer

Hours:  

This is a full-time role, for 37 hours per week.

Salary:

Environmental Health Officer applicants, (City Pay Band 6 £39,186- £44,428), will join us with a Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health and Certificate of Registration of the Environmental Health Registration Board.

Senior Technical Officers applicants, (City Pay Band 6 £39,186- £44,428), will join us with relevant A levels and an advanced relevant specialist technical qualification in this area of work.

Technical Officers, (City Pay Band 5 £34,834 – £39,186), will join us with relevant A levels and relevant basic technical qualification in this area of work, with the opportunity to secure a relevant additional advanced qualification for career progression as part of our learning and development programme.

Location:                                                         

This is flexible – primarily working in Cambridge on site or at one of our offices or working from home.  You will be able to balance your work location accordingly.
