We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the East Suffolk Council's forward thinking and ambitious Food and Safety Team.

The work is varied including a wide range of advisory and regulatory activities covering food safety, occupational health and safety, infectious disease control and port health for the Port of Lowestoft. We have more than 30 approved premises ranging from small scale producers to a Bird’s Eye factory in Lowestoft. East Suffolk is home to a growing number of public events including, the Suffolk Show and  Latitude Festival, where we actively work with the organisers to ensure that people can enjoy a safe event.

The role

The position being offered is one of two Lead Food and Safety Officers, who provide technical specialist support and advice to the team. Technically competent at the highest level, you will have significant and extensive regulatory experience within food and workplace health and safety environment.

You will help implement our current food and health and safety service plan (paperturn-view.com) and play a key role in developing our future. Reporting to the Food and Safety Manager and supporting them with line management responsibilities.  

What you need

We are ideally looking for someone with strong leadership skills and a wealth of professional knowledge and technical expertise in all areas plus competence within an enforcement role.  

However, if you do not currently have this experience and are keen to take the next step in your career, we will consider appointing at the band below for an individual who is prepared to develop these skills with our support to enable them to progress to the Lead Food and Safety Officer post.
