Graduate Environmental Health Officer
Full-time, 37 hours per week
The Environmental Health team is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Environmental Health (BSc or MSc) graduate to fill our Graduate Environmental Health Officer vacancy. You must be seeking a placement to fulfil the training requirements of your EHP Portfolio leading to your professional registration.
You will be joining a bold and innovative organisation that has big ambitions for both the borough and for our staff. We do things differently here. We achieve more, we nurture, and we develop and invest in our communities and colleagues as we shape an exciting future for Basingstoke and Deane.
Protecting public health in its various forms as well as protecting the environment we live in, is at the heart of everything we do and at the heart of everything you will do. We want to make things better for our residents.
This post sits within the Environmental Protection team of Environmental Health. There is a huge variety to the work, whether it be investigating noise and other nuisance matters, responding to other public health complaints, dealing with private water supplies, matters relating to air quality, responding to planning and licensing consultations, contaminated land matters, and environmental permitting among other things. There’s no shortage of things going on.
You will need a strong appetite to learn, and you must have excellent communication skills. You will thrive on variety and be used to dealing with multiple needs and demands in your work. If you have excellent communication skills, if you can prioritise your work and be flexible in your approach to find solutions, and if you want to be part of an organisation and team that is driven to making a difference, we want to hear from you.
