Senior Licensing Officer

Our local authority client, based in Essex are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Licensing Officer. Duties will include to Implement the Council's arrangements for Licensed Premises/Licensing of Hackney Carriage and Private Hire drivers, vehicles and operators in accordance with current legislation and good practice. You will also be expected to undertake specific enforcement duties to ensure all licensed premises/hackney carriage and private hire vehicles and operators, drivers, are operating in accordance with current legislation and the Councils Licensing conditions. Full JD is available upon request.

In order to be considered, you must hold a recognised formal qualification in Licensing, which can include Certificate of Higher Education in Licensing Law, BTEC in Licensing, or relevant subject such as an Environmental Health qualification or a comprehensive working knowledge and experience in a specialist field of Licensing. You must also have substantial post qualification experience as a Licensing Officer or similar role, with experience of working at a high level within a specialist licensing role including supervising more junior staff with the team. A sound working knowledge and experience of all licensing activities (Taxis and Premises) gained in local government or similar environment, including contact with the general public, members, other organisations and local businesses. Experience of conducting a variety of Licensing Inspections.

Our client is happy to consider Ful and Part time hours but have noted that at least 60% of this will be expected on site. This contract will run until the end of March 2024 and rates will start from £40 per hour.
