Environmental Health Officer / Technical Officer – Commercial Regulation (Air Quality, Contaminated Land & Environmental Permitting) 

£39,186 - £42,403

Full-time – Permanent 

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Bedford Borough Council within our Regulatory Service delivering a range of services associated with local air quality management, contaminated land and environmental permitting.

This is an exciting and challenging post, that will allow you to experience a range of Environmental Health functions with opportunities to experience and support wider regulatory operations across the service supported by a team of experienced regulatory professionals. 

We are looking to recruit a positive, highly motivated and organised individual with great communication skills, and the ability to engage with a diverse range of people to bring about positive outcomes and deliver against a challenging and rewarding work plan.

To be considered you will ideally have experience of operating within a similar role, with a range of associated knowledge and skills to help protect the public and legitimate businesses. The role is responsible for leading on matters relating to the management of local air quality including supporting officers delivering work associated with DEFRA air quality grant funding, contaminated land including the assessment and conditioning of proposed developments via the planning process and regulating businesses subject to environmental permitting requirements.
