Our client, based in the North West is seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Licensing Manager to provide cover for long term sickness absence within the Public Protection service. Key duties for the roles are to act as a subject lead and provide advice, interpretation, guidance, on environmental health and licensing and to disseminate this information to staff and members, oversee the day to day delivery of environmental health and licensing services and to work alongside other public protection team managers, and other regulatory services in the Council to deliver a safe, legal and high quality Public Protection service.

To be successful it is crucial that you have experience managing staff responsible for environmental health and licensing as well as experience providing leadership for the integration of licensing functions across Borough, including continuation of work to develop and agree new licensing, gambling and taxi licensing policies.

You will also be asked to provide support for the effective operation of the Licensing and Regulatory Committees, including ensuring high quality papers and briefings are prepared in an appropriate format in accordance with required timescales.

The post-holder will report directly to the Director of Public Health initially, and then to the Senior Manager - Public Protection, once this role is in place.

They are ideally looking for someone to do 37hours/week over 5 days, but would also consider 30 hours/week and/or 4 day working patterns. The majority of this role can be undertaken remotely, although there will be an expectation that the post-holder will be able to work on-site in when required (likely to be 3-4 days per month).
