Location: Based at King’s Court Council Offices, King’s Lynn

We have an opportunity in our Food Safety and Health and Safety team for you as a qualified and competent Environmental Health Officer (EHO).  If you are already a Principal EHO looking for a new challenge or are a Senior EHO looking for the next step this could be the role you are looking for.

West Norfolk consists of urban, rural and coastal areas, and a variety of local industry including tourism, small cottage food producers, and factories. This means we can offer you such a wide variety to this job role and lots of opportunity to develop your experience of different premises and environments.

You will lead and motivate the Food Safety and Health and Safety Team to ensure that the service meets all statutory and other obligation, as well as managing your own caseload including to carry out detailed investigation and audits of mainly ‘high risk’ food and health and safety businesses as required. You will also act at the Lead Food Officer for the authority as well as monitor and validate exports of fishery products and shellfish including the verification of documents, identity, and physical checks.  You will therefore be authorised as a Food Competent Certifying Officer (FCCO) or willing to work towards this qualification.

You will be registered with the CIEH and hold a Chartered Membership with the organisation.  with You will have significant post qualification experience in UK food safety/health and safety inspection and enforcement. You will be able to communicate effectively with the ability to effectively supervise and support a technical team as well as effectively manage your own workload to deadline. You must have a full driving licence to be able to travel around the Borough.

If you would like to join our team, we would like to hear from you.  In return we can offer you a competitive salary, performance related pay, a generous annual leave entitlement which includes an office closure between Christmas and New Year, membership of the local government pension scheme; CIEH subscription payment and if you need to move to the area a relocation package to help you.

Appointment is subject to a satisfactory basic Disclosure, through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
