The Royal Borough of Greenwich is looking for up to 4 dedicated, forward thinking, and enthusiastic Technical Officers, within the Environmental Health service, part of the Council's Community Safety & Environmental Health Division. Our mission is very much about ensuring that people in Greenwich have access to safe and secure housing that meets their needs, whilst striving to be the 'best or better' in the services we deliver each and every day.

A key aspect of this role will be a focus on the licensing of private rented property, and post holders will demonstrate best practice and high productivity in their area of responsibility.

You can expect to be carrying out onsite inspection work for a range of property types, completing dynamic risk assessments and offering support and advice, but also taking enforcement where proportionate and necessary. Routine compliance visits will be completed for licensed Houses in Multiple Occupation, and properties that require Selective licenses. There will also be associated enforcement work.

You will be a confident communicator who is able to work equally well in a team and independently. We are particularly interested in hearing from applicants with experience of working with private sector housing, similar regulatory compliance-based processes, or a regulatory enforcement background, and with experience in a local authority setting.

The successful candidate will be eligible to take part in the Council's flexible working arrangements, and hybrid working to help you achieve a good work/life balance, including a 35-hour working week.
