Job Summary
An exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified Environmental Health Practitioner to become a key member of Blaenau Gwent’s Public Protection Service working to deliver the key corporate priority of enabling good quality housing by bringing empty properties back into use. In the role, as part of a wider Housing Standards and Pollution Team, you will be primarily responsible for dealing with empty properties by the undertaking of inspections and investigations as a result of service requests or proactive projects. You will be responsible for providing relevant advice (including access to financial support) and/or taking necessary enforcement action to improve standards and ensure compliance with appropriate legislation. The successful candidate will bring empty properties back into use in accordance with local and national priorities, develop relevant partnerships to enable sustainable solutions for empty property owners including advice, grants, loans and access to other financial support, and undertake relevant enforcement action, where necessary, in relation to long term empty properties.
