Do you work in a Housing Role and are looking for a diverse and exciting challenge? The City of Lincoln Council is seeking to appoint a Technical Officer to join the Private Sector Housing Team.  The Team is made up of Housing Standards and Enforcement Officers and Technical Officers and works across a broad range of housing related issues to improve private sector housing conditions, and to tackle housing related crime. The housing related issues will be;

 

  1. Improve and maintain housing standards within the private sector by carrying out inspections following complaint or as part of a planned programme;
  2. Deliver into the management of the City’s houses in multiple occupation (HMO’s);
  3. Implement the Housing Assistance Policy by assessing an applicant’s eligibility and needs and delivering the most effective housing or independent living solution;
  4. Promote best practice in the private rented sector through active engagement with private landlords, letting agencies and other organisations.
  5. Provide advice to the Team Leader on day to day operational issues & propose service solutions.

 

You must hold or be working towards a minimum of a level 4 Qualification or be working towards, such as an HNC. If you do not have the qualification but posess transferrrable skills the council have commitment in providing the adeqeuate training and support to meet the roles crieria and suceeding within the Council. The Council is  Experience of property inspection and assessment is essential. It would also be an advantage to have experience in taking enforcement action and knowledge of housing standards, noise, anti-social behaviour and nuisance related legislation.

You will have experience of engagement with landlords and members of the public to improve tenancy management, property standards and neighbourhood sustainability, of working with others to solve housing related problems, have well-developed planning, organisational, communication and customer service skills, and be computer literate. Transferrable skills will be considered to meet these criteria.

You will have a current driving licence or means to mobility support.
