Permanent, Full Time, working 4 days, 30 hours per week

Bassetlaw District Council lies in North Nottinghamshire. The most populated areas are Worksop and Retford, where approximately 60% of residents live, the remainder of the district is 73 villages. The rural communities are very diverse ranging from small market towns and former mining communities, to very small hamlets.

We expanding our small team and are therefore, looking for a motivated Senior Technical Officer to join to help us ensure that the residents within the Private Rented Sector are living in safe homes. The role will focus on responding to complaints from tenants within the Private Rented Sector, but also includes proactively bringing empty domestic properties back into use, and undertaking overcrowding assessments at the request of residents or on behalf of our council housing team.

We are looking for someone who holds the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) competency certificate and has experience in using the enforcement powers of the Housing Act 2004, along with knowledge of being able to use alternative legislative provisions that can improve housing conditions in the private sector, such as those relating to statutory nuisance.

The post holder will on occasion, work with our colleagues in the Neighbourhoods Team.

The post holder will need to have full driving licence and their own vehicle as the post involves travelling around the district of Bassetlaw including rural areas.
