 Salary: Grade 8, £32,020 - £36,298 per annum

37 hours per week

Your role:

We are looking for someone who wants to join our Environmental Protection team.  We are a high performing team and need an experienced and enthusiastic Environmental Protection Officer.  Ideally you will have experience of the following:

  •  planning consultations, especially for air quality and noise.
  •  background/experience in environmental permitting and acoustics.

Your will be part of the Environmental Protection Team who are responsible for:

responding to planning consultations for air quality, noise and land contamination

  • air quality monitoring and reporting
  • pollution prevention control by inspecting businesses and issuing/amending permits
  • Liaising with Greater Manchester air quality colleagues on air quality improvement initiatives

About you:

You will be a confident and a highly motivated team player with a good eye for detail and a sound knowledge of environmental protection legislation and associated guidance.  You will have initiative and sound judgment and be used to working across a broad technical background and in a range of environmental health functions. 

You’ll have excellent people management skills allied with the proven ability to listen, explain, negotiate and influence.
