Buckingham Futures are recruiting for an interim Contaminated Land Officer on behalf of our client in Nottinghamshire on a part-time basis.
To be considered you must be a highly motivated person, with experience of investigating contaminated land and knowledge of its impact upon development as you will be the council's lead officer within the environmental protection unit for Part IIA of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, planning and development and complaints regarding contamination.
You will be required to investigate potentially contaminated land and to give advice to the council, Councillors, residents and developers.
You must have a degree or equivalent qualification in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Health, Environmental Chemistry, Geology, Geography or similar subject. You will also need a detailed knowledge and experience of contaminated land, including legislation, assessment, risk assessment, best practice, instrumentation, monitoring techniques, principles and procedures.
The service delivery is customer focused, so excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is a good understanding of IT, including geographic information systems.
Although working as part of a team you must be capable of working without supervision.
NB - This will be a Part-Time role for c. 11 hours per week beginning in mid-June and will mainly focus on Planning Consultations.
