Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council is a busy unitary authority in east Lancashire. Blackburn and Darwen are vibrant towns surrounded by beautiful countryside and within easy reach of Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool and Preston, the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District.
The Council has been a unitary authority for 25 years and has a multi-disciplinary Public Protection and Environmental Health Service, which is known for its can-do attitude and problem solving approach to achieving compliance.
This rare and exciting opportunity is for a highly organised and enthusiastic individual to join our friendly and supportive Business Compliance team. The Team deals with food hygiene, food standards, health and safety at work, infectious disease control and our healthier catering award, Recipe 4 Health. You will be, or working towards being, a Chartered/Registered Environmental Health Practitioner or hold the Higher Certificate of Food Premises Inspection.
Our ideal candidate will have a good knowledge and experience of the full range of food and health & safety legislation, and practical experience in enforcing it. The vacancy is for one post with appointment to the appropriate role, depending on the successful candidate’s background and experience. There are different job specifications dependant on the level.
