We currently have an exciting opportunity to join East Suffolk Council's forward thinking and ambitious Food and Safety Team as a Food and Safety Officer.

Your role

The work will be varied and the responsibilities as a Food and Safety Officer will include a wide range of advisory and regulatory activities covering food safety, occupational health and safety, infectious disease control and port health. You will help implement our current food and health and safety service plan (www.paperturn-view.com) and plans for the future.

A detailed knowledge of legislation, codes of practice and associated guidance is essential as is the ability to use your initiative, to investigate, make sound judgements and take a range of risk-based proportionate interventions.

Reporting to a Lead Food and Safety Officer, within the Food and Safety Team, the post sits within a career progression framework that will recognise your qualifications, experience and competency as well as offering development opportunities.
