We are excited to recruit an experienced Environmental Health Officer / Practitioner to join our food and health and safety team.  This is a 37-hour contract to be worked generally Monday to Friday with some ad hoc weekend work. Applicants will require a recognised degree or diploma in Environmental Health or equivalent and a Certificate of Registration from the Environmental Health Registration Board.

Work areas include food safety, animal licensing, skin piercing registrations, health and safety, infectious disease control and public health work, which involves attending community events.

We are a small team and take pride in the work we deliver. The successful candidate will be qualified within environmental health and be driven to assist the team in delivering an excellent service within our communities.

You should possess excellent communication skills and have experience in managing a busy caseload with a strong track record of performance. The ability to offer accurate, concise technical advice is essential.

The successful candidate will be able to work on their own initiative and have excellent organisational skills.  Our officers have a passion to make a big difference to public health and business/consumer confidence in the Chesterfield borough.

You should be Food Safety Competent and able to meet the requirements listed in Chapter 3 of the Food Law Code of Practice (England) March 2021 for an ‘Authorised Officer.  You will be required to complete an appropriate competency assessment against the Food Standards Agency’s Competency Framework once in post.
