Job Details

Our client, based in the South West, are looking for a StreetScene Operations Manager to lead and co-ordinate the StreetScene Operations team in delivering the day to day and long term development / strategic direction of operations, and provide technical expertise to the Council. This will include monitoring and reporting on project progress; systems thinking reviews of service delivery within the team; forward planning for operational delivery, equipment and vehicle requirements and staff resourcing and budgeting; health and safety compliance and risk management.

If you are successful you will be asked to manage the Council’s StreetScene operations activities including Grounds maintenance, Street cleansing, Parks and gardens, Public toilets, Building cleaning, Street Furniture, Street Nameplates, Playgrounds, Management of Beaches and beach amenities, Coastal defences, Emergency response, Flytipping and enforcement, Abandoned vehicles and Special events such as carnivals and music festivals.

You will be asked to provide effective leadership and strong performance management of the StreetScene Operations team as well as management of a diverse workload and assisting the Assistant Director in the financial monitoring and performance of StreetScene budgets and resources effectively and in accordance with the Council’s Financial Regulations.

To be successful you will need sound knowledge of operational management of a local authority StreetScene or environmental service or private sector equivalent, a working knowledge of environmental directives relating to public realm work, including but not limited to: Environmental Protection Act, Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act, Refuse Disposal Amenity Act and CDM regulations.

If you are successful you will be offered a 3-4 month contract (subject to them finding a permanent member of staff) that is likely to be extended paying £300-£400 per day (Umbrella)
