Harborough District Council is looking for a highly motivated individual, to work within Regulatory Services as an Environmental Health Officer. In this role you will be working within the Environment Team that is responsible for enforcing Pollution Control and Private Sector Housing. You will be required to offer support to the Team Leader and undertake inspections and investigations in relation to statutory nuisance, anti-social behaviour, private sector housing enforcement, air pollution, permitted processes, licensed premises (including caravan site licensing) and public health (including private water supplies), in accordance with legislative requirements and council policy.
You will be expected to take the lead on certain aspects of the team’s work, that may include private sector housing, pollution prevention control, planning consultations and private water supplies.
You will have experience of communicating confidently with a range of people in a customer facing role and will be able to demonstrate excellent customer service skills. You will be able to work under your own initiative and will be able to identify innovative solutions to challenges. You will have skills in MS Office and a desire to gain technical knowledge. You will be appropriately qualified with a Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health (or equivalent qualification) and registered with the Environmental Health Officer’s Registration Board (or equivalent). Ideally you will have recent enforcement experience in the fields appropriate to the post. Additional qualifications in the relevant areas of noise control and private sector housing would be an advantage.
Occasional work outside office hours may be required. You will need a valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle. Clearance by the Disclosure and Barring Service is required for this post as well as Police Vetting.
