The Position

This role is a career graded post which is an excellent opportunity for those undertaking the Environmental Health Apprenticeship, newly qualified Environmental Health Officer’s looking to gain experience or an experienced officer looking to move to a Senior role.  

This Environmental Health Officer role is based within our Environmental Protection Team and will be responsible for:  the investigation of statutory nuisance complaints, pollution control, environmental permitting, contaminated land investigation, stray dogs, public health (including rodent infestations, filthy and verminous premises and drainage issues), public health funerals, drainage, noise measurement and commenting on planning and licensing applications.

The Senior Environmental Health Officer position level will also provide day to day supervision, advice, guidance and technical and developmental support to the environmental protection officers within the team.

About you

This position provides a career development opportunity and is open to applicants from Environmental Health Apprentice level up to Senior Environmental Health Officer.  We will support your career by providing a training program within the workplace to support the experience and/or qualifications needed in relevant areas and also encourage your further development.

You be enrolled on a relevant course and making progress towards becoming a qualified Environmental Health Officer (EHO) and registration with EHRB.  (i.e. apprenticeship, BSc or MSc in Environmental Health).  With experience of working within a regulatory environment you will also have knowledge of enforcement procedures and possess excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
