The Job
An opportunity has arisen in the Environmental Health team within Place Services for a Food Hygiene and Commercial Premises EHP. The successful applicant will be  part of a team of 7, supporting the Environmental Health and Licensing Manager.  
You will get involved in a diverse range of Environmental Health work supporting a small team with responsibility for: food hygiene inspections, health and safety interventions, Infectious disease controls, outbreak investigations, accident investigations and service enquiries.

The Applicant
The key responsibilities for the role of Food Hygiene and Commercial Premises EHP are as follows:

  • Working with the Senior Environmental Health Practitioner to deliver a dynamic and effective service for enforcement of food safety, public health, and occupational health and safety within Hart
  • Carrying out inspections and revisits in line with Codes of Practice and internal policies. 
  • Responding to complaints and enquiries in relation to local businesses 
  • Experience of evaluating of food businesses which fall within the scope of the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme. 
  • Responding to infectious disease notifications and investigation of outbreaks; 
  • Investigating accidents reported under RIDDOR;
  • Participation in food sampling programmes 
  • Planning and organising own workload within the priorities set out for the Service. 
  • Promoting the HART values by being helpful, approachable, responsive and taking ownership of challenges and problems to ensure they are dealt with effect and authority. 
  • Previous experience of food hygiene and enforcement in local government
