Woking Borough Council has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced professional to join our busy and dedicated Housing Standards Team as a Housing Standards Officer on a full time, permanent basis.

Reporting to the Housing Standards Team Leader, in this role you'll be responsible for improving housing standards across the Borough by working pro-actively and providing advice and guidance, undertaking detailed property inspections, and taking appropriate enforcement action using a wide range of relevant legislation, including licensing to reduce hazards in housing in the private sector.

We are looking for someone with experience in Housing Standards and / or Environmental Health with an emphasis on housing standards, and a knowledge of housing legislation across all areas of housing standards. This is a varied role suited to someone with excellent customer service skills and knowledge and experience of tenancy relations. It is important that you have a positive and confident outlook, experience of working with diverse client groups and can communicate accurately and effectively with a wide range of people. 

This role requires the post holder to hold a valid full driver’s licence. The interview will include a 30 minute test.

The successful applicant will be required to obtain an Enhanced Disclosure Certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The Council will offer assistance and further details will be in the job application pack.
