We have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Health Officer or trainee to join our small but busy Regulatory Compliance Team which deals with Food Hygiene, Public Health, Health and Safety, and Animal Welfare Licensing.

Amber Valley is an attractive area in the heart of Derbyshire on the edge of the Peak District National Park and close to the lively cities of Nottingham and Derby.  We are looking for an enthusiastic professional who enjoys a challenge and has either a proven competency in food hygiene or is willing to develop their professional competency in food hygiene.  The post will also offer development in the fields of health and safety and animal welfare.  You will need to demonstrate a strong sense of self-motivation, be a competent communicator and be capable of taking responsibility for your individual work targets.

We have a diverse range of businesses in our area ranging from major manufacturers to smaller domestic based enterprises and the opportunities to develop and fine tune your regulatory skills will be plentiful.  We encourage our officers to have a broad competency across all the team’s disciplines thereby giving plenty of chances to expand your knowledge and skills.

Applications are invited from those who hold a certificate of registration with EHRB / CIEH Register of Practitioners, and to persons who hold a recognised academic and practical qualification for food hygiene enforcement as contained in the current Food Law Code of Practice (England), to degree level (e.g. a degree or MSc in Environmental Health recognised by the CIEH with completion of the Food Practical Exam), and who are seeking to complete their competency portfolio to obtain professional registration to become an Registered Food Safety Practitioner.

A full driving licence is required, and salary will be dependent on obtaining professional registration, qualifications held, and experience.

Those invited for interview will be requested to provide a draft or conformation of their current competency matrix.  Trainee officers will need to indicate what pathway they wish to pursue to become registered.
