(There is a possibility that this role could be offered as a Career-graded Trainee - CBG9 £30,516 - £33,182 or CBG10 £34,067 - £35,611  if the successful candidate does not meet the requirements of this post, but we see potential in developing that candidate's skills/knowledge and experience within this role).
Hours: 37 Hours per week

Location: Working from home and any CBC offices, including Priory House, Shefford. You will be expected to attend a CBC office location on a monthly basis, and as needed to carry out your role

Contract Type: Hybrid - Permanent

Closing Date: 16th December 2022

Interview Date: 13th January 2023 – interviews will take place in person at Priory House, Shefford

As an Environmental Health Officer or Technical Officer within the housing service you will be supporting the continuous improvement of the private rented sector across Central Bedfordshire, you will work within an enforcement, housing and licensing environment, as well as Housing Assistance. About the role:

The role is both varied and interesting and combines the full range of private sector housing functions, including delivering a range of housing grants and loan assistances, enforcement of housing standards, HMO licensing. The team is ambitious and looking to improve the health and well-being of all residents within Central Bedfordshire. In this position the successful candidate will have a broad caseload and will represent the service in a multidisciplinary team being responsible for tackling poor housing conditions, regulating private rented accommodation and enabling disabled facility grant works. The role will also be responsible for Landlord and Tenant engagement within the private rented sector.

To meet the requirements of this exciting role you must have an expertise in either housing enforcement. You will be self-motivated but also able to work effectively as part of a team to bring about desired outcomes. We pride ourselves in providing an excellent customer service and will therefore expect you to be able to contribute to this with strong interpersonal skills.

You will either hold a degree or equivalent in an Environmental Health or related subject, or possess in-depth experience in this area of work, and be able to show continued professional development.

You will be provided with the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills further through appropriate training and will also play a role in the development of other colleagues within the team.
