Full Time - Permanent

Are you looking to use your skills to deliver efficient and effective regulatory services?

Do you want to be part of a team that puts the ‘customer first’?

Do you want to work for a Council that has ambitious plans for the future?

Do you want to work in a geographical and administrative area that is enjoying unprecedented growth and will provide you with a wide range of challenges and experiences?

If you answered yes to the above, then you could be just the person we are looking for!

Stafford Borough is growing at an unprecedented rate and recent figures show more than £1.5 billion has been invested in, or planned for, the area.  In recent years a £100 million town centre retail scheme has been delivered, the Army’s Beacon Barracks have been expanded and thousands of new jobs created on new and extended business parks.

This level of growth is set to continue, capitalising on our central location with great road and rail links. Looking ahead, there is a planned garden village at Meecebrook, in addition to a number of large housing schemes that have been started - and Stafford will be a hub station for HS2.

The Council is a forward-thinking authority which is planning to optimise its growth potential whilst ensuring that it has the organisational capacity and resilience to deliver high quality services against a backdrop of ongoing pressure on public sector finances. Stafford and Cannock Chase Councils will shortly be considering a proposal to extend their current shared service arrangement to share all services. We are therefore seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and highly motivated professional to join us on our exciting journey!

As the Regulatory Services Group Manager, you will lead our team covering Environmental Protection, Food Safety, Health and Safety and Public Health. You will need to have the ability to manage the team’s staff within the budget and resources available, so as to deliver all the functions allocated to the team and contribute to the Corporate Business and Service Plans in an effective and efficient manner.

The successful candidate will have the drive for, and will strive for, high performance exhibiting a ‘can-do’ attitude and be an agent for change.

You will need to have excellent skills in motivating staff, communication, prioritising, and planning.  The role presents a valuable career opportunity for those willing to enhance their skills and experience at this grade.

Applications are invited from candidates who are qualified EHOs with demonstrable knowledge and experience. The post holder will receive a local essential user allowance, and payment of one professional fee. If you want to be part of our team, and feel you have the experience and skills we are looking for then please contact: Neale Clifton, Interim Head of Operations, on 01785 619 411 or nclifton@staffordbc.gov.uk

Closing date for completed applications: Sunday 04 December 2022
Interviews will be held Week commencing 12 December 2022
