Full-time Permanent, 37 hours per week

Would you like to lead the Council on a wide-range of environmental health and community safety matters? As our new Business Manager, you will lead these two teams, focussing on a wide range of statutory responsibilities including, environmental protection, community safety, public realm CCTV, food safety and health and safety, and private sector housing licensing.  You will also take full responsibility for the Council’s corporate approach to health and safety and risk management, ensuring full up-to-date communications on key national and local developments within these key areas, whilst using your knowledge and learning to deliver service improvements in line with the Authority’s obligations under the Cleaner, Safer, Greener Agenda.

With demonstrable experience in resource management, in providing direction and strong people management skills, you will have a background and knowledge in Environmental Health and/or Public Protection a senior level and have full CIEH membership or equivalent.

You will deliver against strategic and special projects including Safer Streets Four, enhancing the council’s CCTV network and developing schemes within the Better Care Fund. A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field is also required along with a full driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
