Do you have a passion for resolving complex issues?

We are excited to be recruiting to a key role within our Environmental Health Department as a Scientific Officer (Contaminated Land)

For this role every day will present a different challenge.  This is not a job, which is tied to a desk and is not necessarily 9-5.

Typical duties will be:

  • Responsible for our Air Quality Management and Environmental Permitting regimes.
  • This post will join our Environmental Health Team covering the East Lindsey District to perform vital roles at an exciting time within our Environmental Health department.
  • Resolves issues using the Contaminated Land regime under Part IIa of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
  • You will be working with developers, consultants,  residents and visitors to ensure that the highest possible standards are met.
  • Where standards are not met, you will need to work within the legislation to take action to formally deal with non-compliance.

Do you possess the following qualities?

  • BSc(Hons) in Chemistry/Geology/Hydrogeology/Built Environment or Environmental Science
  • A professional, calm and positive manner
  • Frontline enforcement experience
  • Effective communication and listening skills
  • The ability to work as part of a team as well as under your own initiative.
  • Excellent IT skills and attention to detail and a willingness to develop IT systems & processes

Boston Borough Council, East Lindsey District Council and South Holland District Council have formed the South & East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership.  The largest Council Partnership in the country. Since October 2021, the Partnership Councils have been working closely to deliver improved services to the communities in the sub-region and already there have been many positive outcomes.

Over time, it is envisaged that services will become formally shared across the three Councils creating the opportunity for colleagues to be involved in new and innovate areas of work.
