Senior Environmental Health / Private Sector Housing Officer

Our client in Bedfordshire is recruiting for a Senior Environmental Health Officer / Senior Private Sector Housing Officer to deal with the full range of private-sector housing issues including complaint investigation, HHSRS inspections, hazard and nuisance resolution, HMO licensing and proactive inspections.

You will be given considerable independence and the opportunity to develop your skills and experience; you will have a busy and varied case-load and will need to demonstrate a commitment to housing work.

You will need to have recent experience of housing inspection, nuisance investigation and enforcement. In particular, you must demonstrate that you can inspect the residential property to assess and report on its condition, that you can identify and assess hazards using HHSRS and recommend appropriate remedial action and are familiar with relevant legislation.

Qualifications

BSc/Msc or diploma in Environmental Health

Substantial experience of using HHSRS, taking enforcement action, conducting interviews under caution, preparing warrants, and giving evidence in Court.

Detailed knowledge of current and proposed legislation, relevant to residential Environmental Health.
