Are you a talented and motivated environmental health professional looking to develop your skills and/or take the next step into team management? If so, we have an exciting opportunity to join our Environment and Community Protection Team as our Principal Environmental Health Officer (Food and Safety).

Reporting to the Environmental Health Manager, this high-profile role oversees our core food safety and health and safety regulatory services, but also includes our Corporate Health and Safety unit, meaning this role is ideal for anyone looking to widen their knowledge, experience and abilities.

We are therefore looking for a gifted individual with the energy and drive to further develop these essential services and contribute to the Council's priorities and its vision for the future. Requiring a strong operational competence, coupled with the ability to manage and respond to competing and sometimes immediate demands, the postholder will have the technical knowledge and management skills to deliver the high standards provided by these services.

Our staff play a vital role in making sure we deliver the best quality and value for money services. We strive to be an organisation where our staff feel valued, inspired and empowered. You will therefore be a true team player, capable of inspiring others and championing our 'One Council' approach. However, our services do not operate in isolation and so this post involves a significant amount of engagement with our communities, businesses and local partners.

So, if you are forward-thinking and feel you have the skills and experience to fulfil this challenging and rewarding role, then we would love to hear from you!

What can we offer in return? We pride ourselves on our friendliness and being a good employer with a range of benefits and employment terms and conditions to suit you.  A competitive salary, generous annual leave entitlement, the opportunity for hybrid working, Local Government Pension Scheme, work life balance policies, and support for your personal development are just some of the benefits we offer.

For an informal chat about this opportunity, please contact Lyndsey Key, Environmental Health Manager, on 01695 583236.
