About us
We are recruiting a Neighbourhood Services Technical Officer to our Neighbourhood Services Team within the Shared Regulatory Service. The Shared Regulatory Service operates across the three partner Councils, Bridgend, Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan under a single management structure.
About the role
Pay Details: Grade 7 Pro Rata (Plus Night Noise Service Payments where applicable)
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: Wednesday-Friday (25.8 hours)
Main Place of Work: Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan
Description:
We require an enthusiastic and professional officer to carry out investigations and
enforce relevant Environmental Health Legislation in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
This will involve the investigation of Statutory Nuisance, particularly noise, dust and odour nuisance complaints. The role requires the investigation of breaches of legislation, the undertaking of enforcement action such as issuing statutory notices and the instigation of legal proceedings.
Part of the role will include working outside of normal working hours, including the
reactive night-time noise service operated in Cardiff.
About you
You will need:
- To be educated to A Level standard / NVQ3 or Equivalent (note that this post would be suitable for and Environmental Health Professional)
- Experience in the use of relevant legislation (especially around statutory nuisance), and a comprehensive understanding of the range of powers available to local authorities to resolve complex issues
- The ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload and perform well under pressure
- The ability to drive / travel throughout Cardiff and the Vale or between locations if appropriate.
- To be able to work outside normal office hours, including evenings and weekends, both planned and in an emergency
- Effective communication skills
