Senior Public Health Manager – Healthy Places

Are you interested in using your knowledge and skills of the built environment and healthy place making to reduce health inequalities across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough through addressing the wider determinants of health?

We are looking for two motivated and enthusiastic people who can apply a health in all policies approach to healthy place making to maximise health and well-being outcomes for local residents.

You will be key to supporting the Health in all Policies Team, with a broad work programme focusing on Health Inequalities, the built environment and the wider determinants of health using a health in all policies approach. You will bring fresh ideas and shape the delivery of emerging policy. You will apply your skills and knowledge of the role of healthy places and be an advocate for the importance of the wider determinants of health with senior officers, elected members, the NHS and developers.

About the Role
As a Senior Public Health Manager (Healthy Places) you will influence the Council’s policy, plans and actions, local district/city councils and the Combined Authority in a wide variety of areas such as:
• land use planning,
• transport,
• housing,
• economic growth, and many other local authority functions.

You will proactively build and maintain relationships internally and with key external partners identifying opportunities for improving health locally.

About You
If you can show experience of managing relationships across a wide range of organisations and show an understanding of the challenges faced by local authorities and the NHS, then we want to hear from you.

It does not matter if you have not worked in Public Health before, we are more interested in aptitude to learn and apply your skill set. This is a great opportunity to join our organization determined to maximize the impact of healthy places policies, health and wellbeing outcomes, and health inequalities.

About Us
Benefits include:
• a competitive salary,
• generous annual leave entitlement,
• local government pension scheme,
• agile working environment, and a
• forward thinking senior management team.

We offer a flexible approach to working locations and have responded as a whole Council to the very difficult circumstances surrounding Covid, and the impact this has had on staff both at home and in the workplace. You will be a “hybrid” worker, with part-remote options available whilst still supporting colleagues and partners in offices. We have a number of offices situated in great locations around Cambridgeshire and Peterborough

We are proud to serve our diverse communities and want our workforce to reflect this diversity, which we believe is beneficial for our employees, the organisation and the communities we serve.

Shortlisting will take place week commencing 22 August. Interviews will be held either at the County Council Headquarters at New Shire Hall, Alconbury Weald, or virtually via MS Teams week commencing 5 September.
