As part of the Public Protection service area, you will provide a range of regulatory and enabling functions that affect the daily lives of people living, working and relaxing in Ipswich. The service is aimed at protecting and improving public health, the local environment and quality of life.

The role will involve a range of functions relating to environmental protection, particularly within the field of air quality. You will undertake a full range of enforcement duties by the undertaking of inspections and investigations as a result of enquiries, service requests, complaints or as a matter of routine; determining and taking necessary action to ensure compliance with appropriate legislation through advice, education and where necessary service of statutory notices and legal proceedings.

Some responsibility for the supervision of other officers within the team may be required.

You will need to have a degree or diploma in Environmental Health or a related field relevant to the role, be registered with the Environmental Health Registration Board and be a member of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) or recognised equivalent. You will also need to have had recent experience of working in local government or a similar organisation and have the ability to provide detailed technical advice to customers and other service areas. A Full UK Driving Licence is required.
