Do you want to make a difference?   You have an exciting opportunity to be part of our Environmental Health and Community Safety section within the Neighbourhoods Team.  You will be part of a team delivering a quality service to residents, on issues that are often complex and can have a negative impact on quality of life.

We are looking for a highly-motivated professional Environmental Health Officer, who is skilled in the effective use of our powers under the Housing Act 2004 and the Housing and Planning Act 2016. As part of the Neighbourhoods Team you will also be involved in their wider activities including nuisance, environmental crime regulations and community safety. The successful candidate will also be expected to deputise and support the management functions of the Principal Environmental Health Officer.

You must have an excellent working knowledge of private sector housing legislation and proven experience in a housing enforcement or regulatory capacity. We are looking for the person with the skills and qualities needed to make optimum use of civil penalties, rent repayment orders and licensing powers to improve conditions and make a real and lasting difference to people’s lives.
