We are looking for an Environmental Health Technical Officer to work in our Residential Services Team at the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.
You will work in dealing with private sector housing complaints, houses in multiple occupation (HMOs), drainage, unauthorised encampments, caravan sites and statutory nuisances. You will also have an opportunity to develop your knowledge in these areas. We welcome applications from newly qualified Technical Officers or those working towards qualification as an Environmental Health Practitioner.
The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator, confident working alongside colleagues and dealing with residents, tenants, and landlords. You will need strong negotiation and collaboration skills and knowledge of private sector housing legislation and environmental health more generally.
The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead is rich in areas of natural beauty and green space. The River Thames flows through the borough for 25 miles, forming a significant landscape feature and wildlife corridor. Distinct towns and villages, each with their own identity and character but all related by an attractive countryside, create a high-quality environment in which to live, work and visit. We host major tourist and visitor destinations, including historic Windsor Castle, Legoland Windsor and Windsor and Ascot Racecourses.
There are excellent transport connections, including the recently opened Elizabeth Line, to London (30 minutes by train) from Maidenhead with the Town Hall a ten-minute walk from the train station.
As this role is customer-facing, we will discuss the right combination of home and office-based working for you and the service. You may occasionally need to work within the borough on some evenings or weekends to meet the needs of the service.
If you are ready for your next challenge and want to work where you can make a real difference, we want to hear from you.
If you would like an informal chat about this post, please email Carol Patterson (Principal Environmental Health Officer) carol.patterson@rbwm.gov.uk and she will call you for a chat.
Closing date: 24 July 2022
Interviews: w/c 25 July 2022
