GEDLING BOROUGH COUNCIL

Temporary Housing Improvement and Enforcement Officers (Two Posts)

Salary range £27,514 - £32,798

Are you looking for a new challenge and to be part of a vibrant Environmental Health team that contributes to the Council’s corporate purpose of 'Serving People and Improving lives'?  We need enthusiastic officers to become part of our Selective Licensing Team to ensure that private rented homes are safe and licensed to comply with minimum legal standards and good practice.

The roles are initially for one year on a temporary basis but could be extended if the scheme expands into other areas.

You will be responsible for inspecting rented homes, drafting and issuing licences as well as offering advice to landlords to comply with their legal obligations and where necessary take enforcement action.  You will also assist with the private sector housing functions of the service.

Knowledge of private sector housing enforcement methods, legislation, regulation and codes of practice is essential.  Knowledge of issuing licences in private sector housing is desirable.  These full time posts would be suitable for experienced officers or graduates seeking Local Authority experience.

The salary is career graded offering progression for relevant experience and qualifications.

Our offices are based in Arnold on the outskirts of the city of Nottingham in a pleasant ‘green flag’ parkland setting with good public transport links.

We offer a supportive working environment with training and professional development and excellent working conditions including a casual user car allowance, free onsite parking, a generous holiday entitlement, a comprehensive pension scheme and access to an Employee Assistance Programme, providing advice on a range of issues including financial and legal matters, and offering discounts on purchases from numerous retail outlets.  We also offer employees reduced gym membership at Gedling’s Leisure Centres.

We operate flexible working schemes and would be happy to talk to you about any particular working arrangements or preferences that you have.

The closing date for completed applications is Sunday 3 July 2022 at midnight.
